‎DG DICON PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO PROFESSOR AHMED ABUBAKAR AUDI COMMANDANT GENERAL NSCDC

‎The Director General (DG) Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Major General, Babatunde Alaya, in his relentless effort to market the defence capabilities of DICON and ensure the robust implementation of the DICON Act 2023, paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant General (CG) of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi on Thursday 7th August 2025 at the Corps Headquarters Abuja.

‎During the visit, General Alaya commended the CG for laudable initiatives introduced into the NSCDC under his leadership. The DG mentioned that critical facilities under the supervision of the Corp in Nigeria, like the mining Sector, oil and Gas, have been protected from incursions from nefarious activities from non-state actors.

‎The DG stated the essence of his visit which was to acquaint the CG and the NSCDC of the New DICON Act 2023 and the opportunities it offered to the Corp to attain operational success. The DG also stated that the Act gave DICON the exclusive power to produce the armament requirements of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies, including NSCDC. He noted that DICON had acquired the capacity and capabilities to meet the ammunition, weapon and ballistic requirements of the NSCDC. He also added that the DICON Act promotes indigenous defence production and prohibits foreign procurement.

‎The DG further informed the CG that DICON has signed operational Memoranda of Understanding with 15 viable defence-related industries in areas of production of Ammunition, weapons, drones, tactical vehicles, operational vehicles, ballistic solutions, among others. He noted that DICON was ready to partner with NSCDC to provide its critical defence requirements.

‎Major General Alaya reassured the CG that DICON was already working on reviving the production of blank ammunition and would commence its production soon. “DICON can retrofit weapons, and it has been doing so for the Kaduna State Command of the Corps”, he stated.

‎The CG, in his response, welcomed the DG and congratulated him on his appointment as DG DICON. The CG extolled the laudable achievements of the DG within the short period he had been in office. He stated that he was aware of the promulgation of the DICON Act 2023 and its conspicuous provisions. He expressed the Corps’ readiness to fully comply with the provisions of the DICON Act. He further applauded the DG for reviving Ammunition and weapon production in DICON. He noted that it was a welcome development as Nigeria was exposed to asymmetric war.

‎He added that officers and men of the Corps were exposed to several joint operations and needed DICON’s support on the provisions of ammunition, amongst other critical defence items needed by the Corps. He assured the DG that the Corp will continue to strengthen the existing relationship with DICON and has consolidated on its resolve to procure the Corps’ defence items, including Ballistic Solutions, arms and ammunition from DICON. The CG informed the DG that the Corps was in critical need of blank ammunition for purposes of simulation in the Corps’ training school.

‎To demonstrate commitment, the CG NSCDC directed the Corps’ procurement Director to immediately engage DICON to develop and design the working details for the partnership and procurement of critical defence equipment needed by the Corps.

‎The CG NSCDC received the DG and his delegation with full compliments of all his principal staff officers.

‎The event had in attendance members of the DG’s delegation, which included the Director Planning & Business Development, the Head of Legal Department, the Administrative Officer to the DG and some staff from the DICON liaison office in Abuja.
