The Director General (DG) of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major General Aniedi Effiong Edet has urged staff to remain professional and avoid acts capable of undermining national security. He made the call during a routine engagement with all DICON staff held at the Ordnance Factory of the Corporation, Kakuri, Kaduna State on Wednesday 15 May 2024.
Major General Aniedi Edet explained that since his assumption of duty in July last year, his driving principles were anchored on five pillars for effective service delivery. These pillars according to the DG include – Professionalism, Business-oriented mindset, Staff Welfare, Improved Communication Channels and Partnerships with local and foreign investors.
He recalled that since his assumption, DICON had returned to full-scale production, as part of an effort to achieve its core mandate. He pointed out that regular engagements were also held to breach communication gaps among staff to enhance productivity.
In the course of the engagement, plaques and tokens were presented to some military personnel and civilian staff which according to the DG, was in recognition of their dedication and hard work to distinguish themselves in the course of their duties. “Never you think you have not been watched, and you must be seen to represent DICON most especially your families positively anywhere you are, for there is a reward for everything you do”, he averred.
The DG further warned that DICON military personnel and civilian staff must not be found wanting, as anybody found indiscipline and engaged in misconduct shall face appropriate sanctions. He urged other staff to continue to work hard and aspire for the next award.
He urged Directors, General managers and Heads of Department at all levels to objectively select recipients of such gifts to encourage others to aspire to achieve these feats. General Edet charged the recipient to maintain the standard of discipline and dedicate more of their energy to serving the Corporation.
