The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, DICON held a two day’s seminar on the 14th & 15th February 2024. Themed “Repositioning DICON for effective productivity and quality service delivery”.

The seminar was the first of its kind as it was an interactive event for participants, invited guests and resource person. It was a two day event held at a hotel for its Management staff, Heads of Departments and Heads of Unit across the corporation.

The event was a colorful one as it had in attendance the Nigerian Defence Academy Commandant Major General Ochai, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army Major General V Okoro, the former Director General DICON Major General Ezugwu (rtd) the Director Standards and Evaluation Major General AA  Ariyibi Defence Headquarters  Abuja among others. The resource persons were drawn across the corporation and one was an external Facilitator Mr. Manasseh Igyuh who set the tone for the seminar.

The seminar was aptly themed in line with the signing of the new DICON Act 2023 which changes the roles and function of the corporation in the defence policy of the country.

The Director General DICON Major General AE Edet the Chief Host and organizer of the seminar said he is committed toward achieving the mandate of DICON based on his five pillars and philosophy which are to be business oriented mindset, professionalism, communication, welfare of staff as well as collaboration and partnership.

The road map to achieving these objectives he said was to identify and pursue vigorously the desired changes within the corporation’s realm and resources to execute while soliciting Ministry of Defence’s intervention outside the realms of the corporation and resources.

DG DICON said; the corporation looks forward to showcasing the strides made and potentials that lies ahead. He said that the corporation’s commitment to excellence, resilience and synergy echoes through the factories and will be delighted to share its accomplishments and insights.

During the seminar participants were tasked with crafting tentative vision and mission, thinking deep as well as other exercises to help the corporation reposition itself in line with its new roles and functions as bestowed by the DICON Act 2023. These were to also give participants shared ownership in the drive and commitment to get DICON to live up to its mandate.
